The Village of Downers Grove is located 22 miles west of Chicago in DuPage County, the second most populated county in Illinois behind Cook County.
With easy access to several major highways and three train stations along the Burlington Northern line to Chicago, Downers Grove is a great location to live and work. Many corporate and regional businesses such as Dover Corporation and Flavorchem are headquartered here along with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the county.
The Village operates under the Council-Manager form of government. As defined by Illinois statutes, the Village is a home-rule community and provides a full range of municipal services to its residential and commercial customers. These services include police and fire protection; building code and fire prevention inspection services; paramedic services; water and stormwater utilities; a commuter and residential parking system; community development services; and the construction and maintenance of streets, stormwater, and other municipal infrastructure.

LEAVES AND YARD WASTE

Yard waste is collected seasonally from April 1 through the second week of December.
- Leaf burning is prohibited.
- Leaves cannot be raked into the street.
SEASONAL WATER CONSERVATION

During peak months of outdoor water use, water conservation measures are in effect. Between May 15 and September 15, outdoor water use is permitted at the following times:
- 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Odd numbered addresses may water on odd numbered calendar days;
Even numbered addresses may water on even numbered calendar days.
CURFEW

Curfew prohibits anyone under 17 years of age to be on the street between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from midnight to 6:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
OPEN BURNING

Recreational campfires are allowed, as defined under the Open Burning ordinance.
Leaf burning is prohibited.
GARAGE SALES

Permits are not required for garage sales. Residents can have up to four
garage sales per calendar year.

PARKING

Village ordinance prohibits the following:
- Parking on Village streets between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
- Parking on the sidewalk or otherwise obstructing the sidewalk in any way.
- Parking on streets between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. when three or more inches of snow have fallen.
PETS

The number of dogs and cats that a person may keep on his/her property in the Village is limited to a maximum of no more than four (4) total, with the following exceptions:
(1) a litter may be kept for a period of time not exceeding four (4) months from birth;
(2) animals kept at a lawfully operating Kennel, Pet Shop, Pound or Animal Shelter.
VEHICLE STICKERS

The Village does not issue or require a vehicle sticker. However, Chamber 630 has stickers available for a nominal fee, for residents who want to display them out of concern they might be ticketed while traveling outside Downers Grove.
