2023 Woodward Ave. Resurfacing

Project Summary

This project consists of resurfacing Woodward Ave from 63rd St to the Village Limits between Oxnard Dr and Wheeler St. This includes spot-repair of curb, sidewalk replacement, grinding, pavement patching as needed, and two layers of asphalt with adjustments to utility structures as needed. This also incluides parkway restoration in disturbed areas and new pavement striping.

LATEST UPDATE

September 15, 2023

• The landscaping contractor visited the site the week of September 11 for restoration work. Sod was prepped and placed.
• Clean up and punch list items will be addressed by the Contractor and inspected in the coming weeks. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout. Sod establishment/survivability is the responsibility of the contractor and residents are not required to water the sod.

PAST UPDATES

July 28, 2023

• Pavement markings are scheduled for Saturday, July 29 or Monday, July 31st, weather pending.
• The contractor will begin punch list clean-up and miscellaneous items. Sod is unable to be placed due to temperature restrictions; landscape restoration will resume when specifications permit sod to be installed, likely in September. The contractor is responsible for managing weeds and keeping the areas maintained in the meantime. Sod establishment/survivability is the responsibility of the contractor and residents are not required to water the sod.

July 21, 2023

• Paving was completed on 7/20.
• Parkway restoration and pavement markings are anticipated to be completed the week of 7/24.
• After pavement markings are completed, the contractor will begin punch list clean-up and miscellaneous items. July 14, 2023

• The remainder of the curb, sidewalk, and patching of driveways and aprons will be completed by end of 7/14.
• Parkway restorations are scheduled towards the end of the week of 7/17.
• The surface grinding of Woodward is scheduled for Monday, 7/17. The level binder will be installed Wednesday, 7/19. The final surface will be installed either at the end of the week of 7/17 or the beginning of the week of 7/24. Pavement markings to follow.
• All work is weather pending.

July 7, 2023

• Pouring concrete for curb and sidewalk for both sides of Woodward Ave is anticipated to continue to early the week of 7/10.
• The curb and sidewalk crossing Oxnard Dr on the west side of Woodward Ave is anticipated to occur late the week of 7/10, once the sidewalk on the east side is reopened.
• Residents whose driveway access is currently affected by the curb repairs will be able to access their driveways as soon as the contractor removes the barricades around the sidewalk. This is anticipated to be 7 days after the concrete is poured. The Police Department has been notified of this and tickets will not be issued for overnight on-street parking during this work.
• All work is weather pending.

June 30, 2023

Removal of concrete for curb on both sides of Woodward began the week of 6/26. Removal of concrete for sidewalk on the east side of Woodward also began the week of 6/26. Removals for curb in front of residential driveways will occur on 7/5 or 7/6.

June 23, 2023

Contractor will start saw cutting on 6/26 for curb and sidewalk removals. Contractor will then be replacing the curb and sidewalk through the end of the week. Driveways will have at least half access for the holiday weekend. The remainder of the curb will be installed the week of 7/5.

June 16, 2023

Work is scheduled to commence the week of June 26. Job board and temporary information signs will be posted by June 19. Residents and businesses in the resurfacing areas will be mailed notification letters with additional information prior to construction.
